5 Reasons Why My Spring Break On Campus Won't Suck

I'll Be On Campus For Spring Break. Where will you be?

5 Reasons Why My Spring Break On Campus Won't Suck

Oh, spring! That glorious and marvelous time of the year that college students yearn for when they can go on vacation with their friends before the hectic nature of summers with internships and jobs and responsibility while still in the academic year. Beaches, booze, Bahamas: whatever it is that your spring break consists of, it isn't campus. Unless you're me.

"But Louis! All our friends are going to [insert destination of choice]! You're going to be so sad and lonely!" You're right about one ting: all my friends are going to [insert destination of choice] and I'm not going, but I chose to stay. Here are my five reasons why.

1. All of my housemates are gone.

Since all of my living mates will be gone, I will have full range of the house. That means I can do whatever I want. I could go all week long without my glasses on!! More like a sans-underwear sort of scenario or just being clothed in a toga, fighting the beasts of my unknown imagination.

2. I'm making money; Y'all are spending it

I may not be at PCB, the Outer Banks, or the Caribbean drinking mojitos on the beach or boating on beautiful waters; but I am making money instead of spending it. And if I do spend money, my bottle service is much less expensive and THEY CAN'T KICK ME OUT AT TWO AM!!! PARTY TILL THE BREAK OF DAWN!!!

3. "You won't be able to put your feet in the water or rub your toes in the sand!"

This is easily solved. I give you my simple solution:

Sure, it isn't seaside but I can wear my just my towel and not get judged. Except maybe the playground... I suppose I should wear clothes there.

4. "What are you going to do with no one here?!"

Well, for starters I can live out every college student's dream of catching up on sleep. Then I could read a book or two. Go to work. Nap. Go to the bar and meet people. Nap. Cook a deli(Nap)cious meal. Nap. To be perfectly honest, I will more than likely just sleep the entire time.

5. Laundry

No one will be here. For the 8 (combined) washers and dryers available to me and the 100 other people who use them, I will have complete and total control of the laundry room. I can wash ALL OF MY LAUNDRY!!! I have things that I haven't washed since fall move. Say what you will but I have been a busy boy lately... You know, got that whole college thing going on? I'm lucky enough to fit meals in as it is.

Would I like to be " toes in the water, ass in the sand. Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand"? Yeah, man, you bet. However, Spring Break is a way of giving students and professors a break. We all decompress differently; mine just happens to make me a little richer and with a lot less travel. If we're lucky, I might go stir crazy like Freshman year and write about watching my Phikeia class fish bowls... We'll see.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
