My journey on how I became a Camp Nanowrimo winner.

Camp Nanowrimo

This year, I decided to participate in Camp Nanowrimo. Like Nanowrimo, that occurs in November, you have an entire month to complete a work, however, during Camp Nanowrimo, you can write less than 50,000 words if desired, whereas, during Nanowrimo, you have to write at least 50,000 words.

I was determined to do something productive with my passion for writing this year. Initially, I intended on writing an entire novel with a goal of 50,000 words, however, I realized my full-time schedule with summer courses made that goal seem more and more idealistic, so I changed my word goal halfway through July to a goal more attainable - 10,000 words, which I wrote within two chapters alone. I felt that 10,000 words would put me to a great start in my novel in regards to planning and organization. This is how I won Camp Nanowrimo year.

Firstly, after making an oath to participate in Camp Nanowrimo to myself (and to my followers on Wattpad), I created a goal list for writing this year. I was inspired after creating a personal goal list for the summer. If I create a personal goal list, why not create one for one of my passions? After all, I accomplished 50% of my personal goals. This is my goal list, where I proudly marked off an accomplishment on July 27!

Secondly, I planned when I would write and how much I would write, such as writing - let's say, 400 words on certain days and writing 1,000 words on a good day. I would write this down in my agenda, alongside my homework for my summer courses, so that I wouldn't forget about it or get sidetracked from everything else.

Thirdly, I joined a cabin on Camp Nanowrimo, which is a virtual writing group of 12 members or less, whom I interacted with everyday. This added a boost of motivation, confidence, and inspiration for me. My cabin mates were very friendly and encouraging.

Fourthly, while writing, I listened to music that inspired me. I mostly listened to Super Mario Galaxy's original soundtrack or I would listen to a 10-hour version of Interstellar's main theme.

Lastly, I'd say my winning this year's Camp Nanowrimo was highly motivated by my weaknesses I've succumbed to in the past, that have made me face undesirable consequences. This experience has showed me how strong I can truly be and how significantly I can recover and effectively find ways to combat my shortcomings. Writers, if you're experiencing writer's block or additional issues and you're desperate for motivation, take small steps towards your goals, because believe me when I say this: it helps significantly. You can do this.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
