We have all had those times where we think the world is ending. They are late nights because we procrastinate, or all the teachers who got together and stirred their cauldron of potions and decided to make either homework, quizzes, tests, or papers due on the same day. These factors can all lead to stress and anxiety.

Stress and anxiety are the number one issue on campuses across America. Why do you think they have therapy dogs on campuses now? They are there to calm the students down before they lose their mind, because they started studying at 3 am for an exam that is at 7 am. Here are a few tips and tricks to help cure and stress and anxiety: no matter it is exam week or just a stressful week at school.

1. CBD Oil

CBD Oil has been proven to help lower anxiety and stress in people who suffer from it the most. This natural remedy helps people (18 and older) relieve stress and anxiety when they feel overwhelmed. Just a few drops of this and you are good to go. You might ask since this is from marijuana isn’t it addictive? The answer is no.

A study done by Spanish researchers (brought to you by leafy.com), has shown that CBD oil enhances the serotonin in your brain which can help with anxiety, stress, and even depression. So, if you feel like trying a more natural remedy to lowering your levels of anxiety; pick up a bottle!

2. Breathing

You might be saying to yourself, really Nick, breathing; I do that all day without thinking about it. The truth is taking deeper breaths, and just taking a moment can slow down the crazy mess that is going inside your brain. This practice of breathing also goes along with the idea of mindfulness, which helps even more with stress and anxiety.

Just by taking a moment to either listen to meditation music and breath, and you can find yourself in a much better place than you were before. These types of practices will help cure those 3 am “anxiety attacks” and help you power through that extended essay that is due in a few hours, or even that test that is the next morning.

3. Exercise (Pilates)

What I have learned with dealing with various amounts of stress and anxiety is the fact that taking a run or even just doing some exercises is the best thing for you. One form of exercise, known as Pilates, is the best way to work out your whole body and take your mind off of the deadlines and the endless lists of tasks that should be accomplished.

I have been doing Pilates for over three years now, and I can say from personal experience that it is the best thing that I have done to relieve stress and anxiety healthily. This form of exercise helps work your core, stretches out tight muscles, and you leave feeling like an entirely new person when you are done.

Stress and anxiety clings to specific muscles in our body and relieving that tension will help make the day a lot brighter than it was before. So check out and see if you can sign yourself up for a session or two, and try it for yourself! If your looking for even more information check out the balanced life.

4. Start journaling

The final way I find the best way to relieve stress and anxiety is to journal what is going on in my life. If it was a good day, it is still good to write down what happened and take time to reflect on what you did that day. If your day was terrible, write down those experiences, and maybe even share them with a close friend that you can trust.

Writing down your thoughts will help get them out of your head and calm down the stress and anxiety. If you are not the journaling type, then try to make a list. Every time you accomplish something on that list check it off. Just by checking it off the list, you will feel so much more accomplished, and that stress and anxiety will start to become more managed.

My final word on the matter is the idea of just remembering that no matter what it is not the end of the world. If you were too look back on your life and see these things that you freak out about not they are so minimal. Life is full of great things and different experiences. You should always remember that and always remember to show yourself love and support. It will help you the most in any situation.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
