Caitlyn Jenner And Her Transformation

Just the other day, I was flipping through the TV channels when I stumbled upon E! and the show "I Am Cait." I had never seen it before, so I decided to watch and see how it was. After a few minutes, my brain just could not wrap my head around it all…

My first thought when watching it was, “That’s Bruce Jenner…” Of course I had seen the famous Vanity Fair cover of Caitlyn and her speech at the ESPYs, but it’s still sort of hard to wrap my head around the fact that Caitlyn was in fact Bruce a few short months ago. Maybe it is because I was so used to seeing Bruce on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" that seeing Caitlyn now just messes with my brain. It’s just so difficult not to try to see Bruce behind Caitlyn’s hair and makeup. I also can’t just say, “Oh, Bruce is still there; he’s just buried deep in Caitlyn.” Caitlyn is Caitlyn and Bruce is gone. Bruce is pretty much dead, and it’s just so strange to think that he is really and truly gone.

But the second thought that I had was, “Wow, this whole experience must be so difficult for her.” To transition from a man to a woman is one big thing, but to then have to deal with all of Hollywood stalking her for a picture of her new self is something I couldn’t imagine going through. Here she is trying to live a life that actually makes her happy and feel alive, yet everyone is acting like moths to the light and swarming her like no other. I can’t help but feel so terrible for her because of all that she has to deal with.

I think watching that particular episode of "I Am Cait" just gave me more insight into who Caitlyn is and how her life is starting to become. Sure, I get moments where I still have to remind myself that Bruce is no more and that that particular person goes by the name of Caitlyn, but hey, life brings about new things every day. I mean, it was a little weird seeing her commence in girl talk with her friends and see her massive closet full of clothes (which I would really like). I respect all that Caitlyn is doing for the transgender community in trying to bring more light to the subject while also attempting to save one more person from taking their own life due to bullying.

Caitlyn Jenner is more than long brown hair and new high heels. She is a confident woman who is trying to save lives and bring about knowledge of subjects that we may not know that much about. People should stop focusing on trying to get a picture of her getting Starbucks to make a headline, and instead should make a headline of how she is trying to change the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
