One of my goals for 2017 is to step out of my normal routine more and this may be your goal too! There are many things to do on campus at SDSU or in the surrounding area that will allow you to experience something new!

Take a hike at Torrey Pines or Cowles Mountain

San Diego is one of the best places for hiking! There are so many different places that you can go hiking! Torrey Pines and Cowles Mountain are the most popular for SDSU students, but you can look up many different places and trails to hike!

Tailgate a football game

Every Aztec’s favorite part of fall is football season! It’s always guaranteed to be sunny on game day! Wear your favorite Aztec gear and cheer on the team! Everyone loves tailgates!

Watch the sunset at Sunset Cliffs

One of my favorite things to do in San Diego is to watch the sunset at Sunset Cliffs! Seeing the sunset over the ocean is so magical! Take a trip out with friends to go watch this amazing sight!

Be a part of The Show

Our basketball student section is often considered the best in the nation! Knowing when tickets are released is very important if you want to get a ticket for the basketball game. If you want a chance at holding a cardboard cutout face during the game, you better get there early to get in the first few rows!

Go to the San Diego Zoo

You have to visit the San Diego Zoo while you’re at SDSU! It’s considered the best zoo in the entire world and you can’t miss out on seeing it. Find all your favorite animals while you’re there!

Relax by the koi pond

My favorite part of campus in the koi pond! I love walking by or relaxing there in between classes! Make sure you stop by and watch the turtles and fish at some point this semester! Who knows, maybe the turtles will you give good luck on your midterm!

These are just some of the things you can do while at SDSU! There are so many things to do at San Diego State University and in the greater San Diego area! You’ll never be bored!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
