Bucket List For My Boyfriend's First Visit To Tallahassee

On Friday, my boyfriend (Ethan) is coming to visit me in my college town for the first time! Not only that, but this is his first time coming to Tallahassee. I am determined to make it the best weekend ever, while still being safe of course! We have not seen each other in three weeks which seems like such a short time but has definitely felt like three months. What makes it so exciting is making a bucket list of things we want to do while he is here!

1. Drinks at Cancun's

There is a new Cancun's location directly across the street from my apartment which is a little sports bar/restaurant that has the best deals on frozen margs EVERY DAY! This is my best friend and I's favorite place to go before Happy Hour on Friday's! Although we do not want to go to Happy Hour due to COVID, we are definitely going to show him how we do it at Cancun's!

2. Pool Day

The weather in Tallahassee has been far from consistent. We have seen some sunny days that turn into rainy days in a matter of an hour so we are really hoping we find one day of sunshine. Get a cooler packed, tan, swim for a while. That just sounds so relaxing. Ethan will be coming right after playing in a three day golf tournament so I think he will really enjoy that kind of day.

3. Go to the golf course

Ethan is a professional golfer so golf is quite literally his life. You can not even imagine a weekend without going to the course at least once. But, it does not bother me one bit. In fact, I am even looking forward to a day at the course with him. I get to watch him do what he loves and I am not too bad at it myself. The whole day is filled with non stop laughing, smiling, and just making more memories together! We might even bring a cooler stocked up with some Trulys and some friends to join us in the fun!

4. Dinner at Harry's

While Ethan is here, we are also going to hit our one month! I know it sounds so stupid to be excited but this is my first serious relationship so it is something special to me. Harry's is a nice New Orleans style restaurant in Tallahassee and the food is to die for! It is a little more expensive but we are excited to have a night to dress up together and celebrate. I have not gotten dressed up in a while and think it will be an amazing night.

5. Walk around campus

This is a given but Ethan has brought up how he is excited to see my college campus. Hopefully there is a day where we can spend a couple hours walking around campus so he can see how beautiful my university is! He also went to a smaller university in South Carolina so I think he will be shocked to see how big my school is compared to his! I will make sure we hit all the campus milestones and maybe he can try some of the on campus dining options!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
