I recently learned from my roommate that Brock Turner has been thinking on launching a speaking tour which would entail him visiting colleges/universities to talk about the dangers of drinking and how it makes people, namely women, more promiscuous. I had to do a double take when I heard this because it was one of the most ridiculous ideas I have ever heard.
Dear Brock Turner,
First off you are lucky you are even out of jail because if you had a judge with a brain you would still be there for many, many more years. The fact that you are able to walk free after just three months just blows my mind. Since there is absolutely nothing I can do about you being out of jail I can speak my mind about how I feel about your actions.
The fact that you would even think about speaking to college students about what happened sounds like you trying to take some responsibilities for your actions, that is until you say what you are wanting to talk about. Drinking and promiscuity is not the issue here, rape is. Everybody already knows what you did and what you did was a horrible act on your part but the fact that you want to talk about drinking and not the real issue makes it that much worse.
As a rapist, which is what you are, you have no right to be saying that drinking causes women to be more promiscuous and therefore makes them more susceptible to rape. Men everywhere can handle themselves around drunk women and not rape them and just because you can’t doesn’t mean that others can’t. Women drinking has nothing to do with them being raped. Alcohol has no part in it. Saying that drinking endangers women to rape is like a slap in the face to any survivor out there, including yours.
You are an adult and you need to act like one and grow up and take responsibility for your actions. You need to man up and apologize for your actions and accept the fact that you are a rapist. Mommy and daddy can’t protect you forever and no girl is ever going to be with you. Accept the fact that your actions and your choice to rape that poor girl ruined your life. Until you decide to take responsibility just stay home and leave everyone alone. You speaking at colleges would be like poison and your message a horrible one at that.
