I Will Bring Praise Because You Are Still God

Breaking down a misunderstood bridge.

One of my favourite worship song bridges comes from "Desert Song" by Hillsong United. It says,

"All of my life, in every season, You are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship"

I find that to be one of the most beautiful, and yet hardest phrases to live by every day. It's so easy to know about God, and know all the correct "Sunday School" answers, and yet, not really know Him. It's so easy to forget how sovereign, and apparent He is in our lives everyday. I have been through many tough "seasons" in my life, and some of them I did not praise Him through the pain. Instead I found reasons not too, I found reasons to be angry at God. But that's not what this bridge says, and that's why I find it so beautiful. Read it again,

"All of my life, in every season, You are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship."

I was completely missing the whole message in a song I've been singing for years. We tend to praise God when he does what we want Him too. When we feel good and use that as our reason to worship Him.

That's where we get it wrong, every time...

In EVERY season, is what that song says. We have reasons to worship Him, even in the ugly times. Even in the times when we feel like life couldn't get any worse. Trust me, I've had those days more times than I would have liked. But I've learned that those moments hurt even more when you don't acknowledge God's sovereign hand in it all, His beautiful plan that is unraveling, His promise of His rainbow after your flood of tears.

Because when you do, when you choose to worship Him, He comforts you, and that oncoming rainbow seems closer to grasping than ever before.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" - Matthew 11:28

He loves us. Oh he loves us more than we can fathom. Jesus died for us, so that we don't ever have to be apart from that perfect love, that perfect love that is God. He loves us. And that will always be a reason to worship Him. No matter the season you are in.

"All of my life, in every season, You are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship"

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
