Dear Boyfriend's Family,
I wanted to write this letter to you to express just how grateful I am for each and every one of you. Sure, I came over to the house to see my boyfriend, but I honestly looked forward to coming over not only because of him, but because of each of you. You have all impacted my life greatly, and for that, I just wanted to say "Thank you."
To my boyfriend's sister and sisters-in-law, thank you for being my friends. I know there's a bit of a gap in all of our ages, but you welcomed me and became my friends. Thank you for the time we've spent together, whether we were out shopping, at family meals, or on family trips. The fact that you accepted me so quickly meant so much. Thanks for passing on bits of advice and lessons you learned from your own experiences with my boyfriend's brothers. Thanks for caring when you noticed I had a rough day, and thanks for always keeping me in the loop on family events going on. We all know that none of the guys are always that great at doing so themselves.
To my boyfriend's precious little niece, thank you for all of the play-dates, the hugs, and for saying "I love you." Thanks for keeping me entertained and for constantly giving me something to smile about. I adore you and I'm so grateful that you've loved me back. Thanks for being my pal, and for picking me as your "favorite."
To my boyfriend's brothers, thank you for all of the laughs, jokes, and sarcasm. Thank you for letting me tag along with you at races because I didn't have anything else to do but wander around. Thank you for accepting me and treating me no differently than you would anyone else in your family—even if that means I get nothing but sarcastic remarks from either of you. Thanks for explaining to me what a drag race is and teaching me what various car parts are when I ask. Thanks for helping to teach me how to ride a dirt bike, and then for letting me borrow yours to ride. I might jokingly tell you both that you're crazy, but at the end of the day, you're pretty cool (I guess).
Lastly, to my boyfriend's parents, thank you for making me feel like a part of your family. Thank you for giving me an open invitation to your home, for letting me drop in for dinner any time, and for being there for me. Thank you for always making me feel at home. Thank you for welcoming me to any family event, celebration, or trip. Thank you for taking the time to invest in me and get to know me. Thank you for always looking out for me and for being willing to listen when I need to talk, and give advice when I'm struggling. Thank you for always being there. Thank you for being my second family.
Each of you has invested in my life in various ways. You have taught me so much and helped me to grow as a person. It is such a blessing to have such a great group of people as a part of my life. I love and appreciate each one of you. Thank you for being the best second family a girl could ask for!
Sincerely,
The grateful girlfriend
