To The "Boyfriends" Before My Boyfriend

Don't worry, we'll never break up.

To The "Boyfriends" Before My Boyfriend

Before we (somehow) found a guy to put up with us, we had each other. We only had each other to laugh with, eat with, cry with, nap with, and have meaningless conversations with.

Just because we have someone else does not mean that it changes anything with us. I still proudly claim that I am dating you, too.

However, here are a few things I need to thank my "boyfriends" before my boyfriend for.

1. Buying me pizza after I spent too much money at the bar.

2. Watching "our show" in our biggest hoodies and sweatpants.

3. Making dinner (all the time).

I am the man in this situation.

4. Boosting my self-confidence by telling me when I look good.

5. And, telling me when I don't.

6. Suffering with me after too many shots.

7. Breaking it down with me at the bar.

8. Letting me vent to you about things you do not necessarily understand.

9. Sending me goodnight texts when we are apart.

10. Voluntarily watching sappy, romantic movies with me.

11. Listening to my post-bar gibberish about things that won't actually matter the next morning.

12. Weirdly always thinking the same thing I am.

13. Being the first person I call when I need a drink.

14. Understanding me when I'm in a bad mood.

15. Sharing favorite songs, foods, movies, activities, etc.

16. Fitting into my family.

17. Taking couple-y pictures with me.

18. Inviting me as your plus one.

19. Giving me the best advice.

20. Being my favorite third wheel.

Even though my boyfriend probably feels like the actual third wheel.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
