If you don't know what Bonnaroo is, it's a music festival held on "The Farm" for four days in Manchester, Tennessee. Each year, hundreds of people gather for four days full of music, camping, and other fun activities. This year, Bonnaroo will be held on June 8th through the 11th.
Some bands from the lineup include: The Weekend, Chance the Rapper, The XX, Crystal Castles, Tegan & Sara and some bands I've never heard of like Ookay, Unlike Pluto, and The Lemon Twigs, but I'm sure they're good if they're playing at Bonnaroo.
I took it upon myself to do research on some of the bands I've never heard of and there are definitely some hidden gems in the lineup. Here are a few that I found noteworthy:
1. Ookay
Ookay is based out of California and is categorized as "one of the most impressive young leaders on the American dance music scene". His musical style "weaves across genres, reflecting influences as varied as Borgore, Diplo, DJ Snake, Showtek, Deorro, TJR, Boaz Van de Beatz, Valentino Kahn, Waveracer, Cashmere Cat, Lindsay Lowend, Skrillex, Lido, and Wiwek while always returning to a hard-hitting trap beat", as written on his Facebook page.
2. Unlike Pluto
Unlike Pluto was started by Armond Arabshahi who moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Los Angeles to pursue his career in music. Unlike Pluto also falls under the dance music genre.
3. The Lemon Twigs
The Lemon Twigs have a unique sound, but I could definitely see myself singing along to their songs on a road trip. The band was formed by two brothers, Brian D'Addario and Michael D'Addario, and their sound has been described as "a modern-day band combining the melodic, harmony-rich soft rock of Wings and Supertramp, the underground cool of Big Star and the Ramones, and the theatricality of Broadway musicals," by The Times.
4. Alexandra Savior
Alexandra is from Portland, Oregon and is currently on tour with her latest album, Belladonna of Sadness. Alexandra's musical style is influenced by artists like Jack White, Adele and Etta James. Her music is under the indie pop genre. More information about Alexandra and her music can be found on Wikipedia, Facebook, and her website.
5. Bad Suns
This band was formed in 2012 with members Christo Bowman, Miles Morris, Gavin Bennett, and Ray Libby. They are based out of Woodland Hills, California and their second album, Disappear Here, was released on September 16, 2016. Their musical influences include The Cure and Elvis Costello; their music falls under the alternative rock genre.
