How great to be a bird

Flying up so high

How great to be a bird

Soar through the soft silky sky

How great to be a bird

So lovely, loose, and free

To see the world from above

See things we’ll never see

How great to be a bird

Fly through a silver cloud

Looking down upon the sea

And hear its roar so loud


How great to be a bird

Over the ocean blue

The most mysterious, beautiful wonders

From a bird’s eye view

How great to be a bird

To watch the sunset glow

The golden sun so peaceful

As it starts to set so slow


How great to be a bird

The windy nights you’d love

To calmly soar around

With the great, pink sky above

How great to be a bird

Oh, how I love the sound

To truly taste freedom

Happily above the ground

How great to be a bird
