1. Memphis can score.
The Memphis Tigers have never exactly been a football school, but the Memphis Tigers are playing lights out. With 447 yards of total offense in week eight, they are not going anywhere. Although it is unlikely that the Tigers will make it to the College Football Playoff, the possibility is always there. The selection committee would most likely favor a premier program with one loss, but we will have to see.
2. Baylor is a legitimate contender.
I didn’t think so until this week, but Baylor can play. Seth Russell is debatably one of the best quarterbacks Art Briles has had at Baylor. With an average defense, and a stellar offense, the Bears could bring a lot of teams problems.
3. USC is ready for the future.
After a dominating win over the number three ranked Utah Utes, USC is ready to move on from the mediocre days. For years, USC has been extremely overrated. Finally, the program is coming together, and it is starting to look like a team. With flashy coaches like Steve Sarkisian and Pete Carroll, the Trojans need to move to a more hard-nosed coach. Just look where flash has gotten them. They truly have not been the same since the Reggie Bush days, and it's time for USC to be back in contention.
4. Clemson can play.
Dabo Swinney has completely changed the Clemson culture, for the better. With a sluggish start in his first few years, he has the Tigers looking like a completely different team. Clemson is ranked number three, and they are not slowing down anytime soon. There will be a little scare in the ACC championship game, but I think they will ultimately win the ACC.
5. UCLA is headed in the right direction.
With freshman quarterback Josh Rosen at the realm, I believe that UCLA will make the College Football Playoff at least once while he is the starter. They have had some bad losses, but the Bruins will be in contention soon.
