Hi Big,
You’re there and I’m here, and that sucks. I didn’t realize we would miss out on as much as we did in the short time that we have been away from each other. You were there from the beginning. You taught me what our sorority is, what values it holds and the meaning behind our tradition. You listened to me as I told you my problems, time after time, and I loved spending time with you. As another year begins, I wanted you to know what an important role you had and will always have.
Not having our chapter at my new school has been rough. I’m sad that I wasn’t able to expand our family, and I’m bummed to have never gotten a little. In the same regard, you never got a little little and now you’ll never be able to experience being a Greek-grandma. I should have taken more advantage of the fact that you were right down the hall. I wish we could of grabbed just one more coffee, or gone out for just one more Blue Monday -- just you and I.
As this new semester starts, I think back to football games and the sad reality that we will never be able to take photos at tailgates ever again. We can’t run ramped through fraternities when we see each other out on Wednesday nights. And we never got to experience the bars together. Ladies night would have loved us. This is tragic. Transferring was weird at first. It was exciting to meet new friends and take classes more geared toward my major, but then my new friends introduced me to their friends. Those friends were mostly apart of their Greek fam. That was when it really hit me. I would never be able to have those times with you. I cherish the fun times we had, and I look forward to coming to visit!
I am thankful to have gotten a big like you. You made my experience in our chapter more memorable than you may even realize. I appreciate the small things; our random texts, women crush Wednesdays, and Snapchats that have continued even after my absence. Giving you your paddle and seeing your reaction was something that I will never forget. The sign you made me for my 21-run was absolutely perfect. My birthday would not have been the same without the hilarious things I had to check off of my list.
I know that you will always be apart of my life whether it’s just for certain events or everyday life and that is really special. I love that we are still rooting for each other when it comes to school, relationships, and job opportunities. I can’t wait to see where our lives take us. Greek life isn’t something just everyone gets to have. I feel very fortunate to have had the greek experience I had. Having you as my big definitely helped to shape that.
Family nights will live on. Eta Rho, forever.
With love,
Your Little
