The atmosphere at Home Team BBQ is fun and welcoming. It’s not super fancy but they do offer outdoor seating and they have nice music playing in the background when you walk in (not too loud). Poe's Tavern

Poe's Tavern is the best place to watch games, with local and national sports on TVs throughout the bar. It also has a great outdoor patio that's perfect for day drinking and lounging around in the sun. The food is excellent here, too; they have a huge selection of craft beers on tap, as well as classic raconteur-style burgers and wings.

This dive bar is one of the best places to go if you want live music every night of the week (except Mondays). You'll usually find some combination of acoustic guitar or bluesy Americana music playing when you visit Poe's Tavern, which makes it an even better spot than most if you're looking for a laid-back vibe in Sullivan's Island.

Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse

Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in South Carolina, and was built in 1820. It is still an active lighthouse, as well as a living museum and a great place to take pictures!

You can visit Sullivan's Island Lighthouse from 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday, or noon-6pm on Sundays (except for special event days). Mex 1 Coastal Cantina is a Mexican restaurant that has a great menu of tacos and margaritas. This is the main dining room, which offers a great view of the beach.

It’s located on the main drag, so you can pop in for lunch or dinner if you don’t have time for an entire meal. It also has happy hour from 3:30–6 p.m., when most drinks are $7.

What To Do There: Stop by the Edgar Allen Poe Library and Archives. It's a small building that houses a collection of books that Poe himself used while he lived in Charleston. Bring cash for admission as they do not accept credit cards at this location (and don't forget your driver's license!). What To Expect? A beautiful space filled with books about one of America's most famous writers! It may seem small but it packs quite a punch with so much knowledge about the man who changed our nation forever through his writings alone. Just remember no cell phones allowed inside!
