Thank you.
Thank you for everything. Thank you for doing all the things you guys have done for me. Thank you for being my new found support group when mine was over 500 miles away.
We have been all been through a lot in the last two semesters and I don’t know how I could repay any of you for all thing wonderful times you have given me. We have studied for hours on end for a stressful Biology or Chemistry exam. We have run up and down the mall during the early mornings and late nights.
We’ve run through the fountain and climbed to the top of the old gym. We’ve done everything together through our first year in college and for that, I am so grateful. All of you have—both individually and as a collective group—have held my hand when I needed it the most, let me laugh through the odd hours of the night, and sing at the top of my lungs. No one could ever replace you guys my college best friends. And yes, we will meet more and more people as the years go on but no bond could ever be stronger than ours.
Who else would have random dance parties with me when a much-needed study break was overdue? Who else would walk with me all the way to Harper for one small task because I didn’t want to walk alone? Who else would I call when something good or bad happens and I just need someone there to listen or to be as overly excited with?
So this is what I have to say to all of my college best friends who made this first year one of the best years of my life. You all are amazing, intelligent and talented people. I would never want to change any of you because the people you are now have made me the person I am today. Without you guys, I don’t know who I would be in college and how I would hold myself as a person. Even the idea of none of you being in my life makes my eyes water and my heart sad. I can’t wait for the coming years—even when we are 45 and have our own kids and lives but still like to hear each other talk on the phone every day.
So again thank you. Thank you for the dance parties, the late nights, the How to Get Away with Murder marathons, the Beyoncé jam outs, always laughing with me, not at me, and for being the greatest best friends a girl could have asked for. And I know we’ve only known each other for a year but it has already felt like forever and for that I am glad.
