Thank you. Thank you so much. I wouldn’t have made it through high school without the two of you, and college would be a much bigger struggle if I didn’t have you guys to talk to every day. I don’t think I could ever actually put into words what the two of you mean to me, but I’m about to try. I’m so grateful for you guys and everything you do, that I don’t even know where to start.
Thank you for making me laugh so hard I cry.
Thank you for being the two of the most trustworthy people I know.
Thank you for knowing exactly what to say to make me feel better, no matter the situation.
Thank you for driving to Sonic at 9 o’clock at night and eating a “family sized” box of tater tots in 10 minutes with me.
Thank you for never saying “I told you so” when my decisions end badly. We all know there have been many times when you had, indeed, told me so.
Thank you for not taking screenshots of (most of) the ugly Snapchats I send you.
Thank you for answering my calls at midnight when I’m sad and homesick.
Thank you for standing by my side when I did something that made a lot of people angry.
Thank you for being the people I can talk to about anything in the world, at any time of day.
Thank you for believing in me when I had a breakdown and thought I wasn’t going to get into my dream college.
Thank you for the long hugs almost every day towards the end of senior year when I was angry at life and wanted to quit school, and for driving me to lunch when I just really (really) needed to leave campus for a bit.
Thank you for going through the darkest days of our One Direction obsession with me, and for bringing up the cringe-worthy memories regularly.
Thank you for staying up until 1 AM to finish the worst Indie movie ever made, because we just had to see how it ended. (The movie wasn’t worth it, but laughing about it with you was).
Thank you for sharing my obsession with BuzzFeed quizzes.
Thank you for the camera roll full of ugly selfies I get when I leave my phone unattended.
Thank you for not judging me for the stupid things I say when I’m tired.
Thank you for prank texting that one boy I couldn’t quite get over, and helping me laugh at the situation.
Thank you for staying up until 5 a.m. in a little apartment by the beach, playing Cards Against Humanity one second and having a super deep heart-to-heart the next.
Thank you for knowing exactly how to distract me, and for also knowing when to make me get work done.
Thank you for making elaborate plans to hang out, and the being content to watch Netflix and eat copious amounts of food instead.
Thank you for letting me rant to you about situations you have absolutely nothing to do with, and thank you for offering solutions anyways.
Thank you for being the world’s best dates to every high school dance.
Thank you for encouraging me to get my life together by telling me I give you second-hand embarrassment. (I’m still not over that, but I needed it.)
Thank you for telling me all about your days, so I feel like we’re together.
Thank you for never letting me feel alone and making me feel like I’m home again, even if we’re still 2,000 miles apart.
Anyone with a best friend knows what it means to have one: we all rely on our best friends to support us, cry with us, make us laugh, and be with us for our favorite memories, because we do the same for them. And yet everyone’s best friends are special. I personally believe that my best friends are the greatest people on the planet, and while I know I’m not alone in that, I am definitely right. I love you guys, and I’m so glad that you’ve flooded me with enough happy memories to last a lifetime. When I think about some of the happiest times of my life, there you are. I look forward to making many, many more happy memories for years to come.
