When you were younger, was there ever a time when you would gather around the TV with your mom, dad or siblings to watch a certain show or movie that you all loved? Whatever it may have been, those were great memories because it was a time where the family could come together and enjoy. Although many of us have grown up now, there will always be a part of us that still looks forward to and enjoys those family times. I know that many of us have our favorite movies and shows that we are already set on rewinding and re-watching countless times, but there are a few shows that are a must see on the living room couch with the family.
1. "Friday Night Lights"
In the town of Dillon, Texas, the high school football team is everything. When the star quarterback, Jason Street, is horribly injured in the first episode, quiet and inexperienced benchwarmer Matt Saracen is forced to rise to the occasion as the new starting quarterback. Throughout the series, Eric Taylor develops as a coach, a father and a friend. With each episode comes strong passion and valuable lessons, each character contributing something unique and memorable. This show is for people of any age and if you haven’t already seen it, then you’re missing out.
2. "Heartland"
Occurring on the range, an unexpected family tragedy occurs, and all characters come together to continue through ranch life, as well as life’s ups and downs. The main character, Amy Fleming, has a passion for horses. She progresses throughout the series as she follows in her deceased mother’s footsteps as one with the ability to treat horses with issues. This show is a whirlwind of emotion, passion and grit. If you have a love for horses, then your appreciation for the animal will sky rocket and you'll feel more compassionate and connected to them than you ever have.
3. "One Tree Hill"
Set in Tree Hill, North Carolina, two half-brother twins, Nathan Scott and Lucas Scott, fight through family issues as well as friendship issues, amidst both competing for the school’s basketball team. A dramatic whirlwind of kinship, rivalry, friendship and love, it is an overall must see.
If you haven't already seen any of these, then grab nearby family members and prepare to become obsessed.
