We lie to ourselves everyday.
From dawn to dusk, we tell ourselves lies and don't even pay attention to it. We begin to doubt ourselves, our appearance, and our abilities right when we wake up in the morning. We question our value. We question everything about ourselves and immediately answer that question with a negative answer.
We always assume the worst because we expect the worst. We fear what others will think about us because we want to feel accepted and appreciated. We want to feel wanted when we barely want ourselves.
Satan wants us to turn our backs on God and reject God's truth and to believe Satan's carefully crafted lies-- we often do. When Satan tells us a lie, we just tend to ignore it until it does one of two things. It either comes back to bite you or you get off the hook completely and you're not phased because you don't feel guilty and it just kind of "goes away". Trust me, they don't ever go away, because once you believe or act on a lie, you get trapped in that area. You get stuck struggling with the same thing over and over again.
Satan wants to defeat and destroy us. He wants us to feel alone and angry and frustrated. He wishes to see us lose connection with God, and he will do everything in his power to physically, emotionally, and spiritually destroy you. He plants seeds of doubt and despair in our heads knowing they won't get out.
His lies haunt you. His lies destroy you. His lies follow you around and you can't think about anything else other than those lies. Examples of the lies he tells us, "You're not pretty enough." or "He won't notice you because you're different and weird." or "You think you're smart? You only got a 80% on your last test." or "You're ugly. Try using makeup."
His goal is accomplished when you believe those lies or act upon them. He wants a foothold on you, and your life and giving in gives him what he wants.
Sometimes we wonder why God would let bad things happen to us, when what he is doing is testing your faith, and seeing if you give in to Satan's lies. God allows bad things to happen to us as long as there is a benefit or learning experience to come from it. He does not do it to hurt you, but to help you.
So, stick to the truth even if it hurts sometimes. The prophet, Job, was a man who lost everything. He went through hell to show his strength in his faith and belief in our great father. He lost everything, but his faith remained strong, and we are to do the same. Stay close to God when you feel your life is falling apart. He will remain.
Satan's lies WILL destroy you and once that happens, it's hard to come back from.
