Valentine's Day is once again upon us. While it's obviously just a holiday invented to keep florists in business and sell a bunch of cheesy cards and cheap chocolate, there's no way to avoid it. Valentine’s Day stuff is everywhere as soon as February starts; heart shaped stuff, bad pink and red decorations, and don’t forget the creepy Cupid cutouts. There is no escape.
I'm seriously convinced that no one actually likes Valentine's Day. For couples, it's too much pressure and just set up to be a disappointment. For us single people, it's yet another reminder of how alone we are because that’s something we totally need to be reminded of.
1. When you realize that Valentine's Day is coming up
How is this holiday even still a thing?
2. All your friends start asking you if you have any plans
Please stop asking.
3. You start noticing couples everywhere
Public displays of affection. Yuck
4. You briefly consider sending yourself flowers
How much money does that cost any way?
5. And quickly realize what a bad idea that is
I'm not that desperate...yet
6. You try to get your friends to hang out with you
At least I still have my friends
7. But they have plans - when did they all get significant others?
That's fine. I'll just buy myself some ice cream and eat it all by myself. I'm totally not bitter or anything.
8. You can't go out because everything is couples stuff or "for two"
Why is this holiday so biased against single people anyway?
9. You end up just hanging out at home and watching TV because you don't want to see all the couples
Netflix will be my Valentine
10. It's all OK because you're a pretty awesome date anyway
You're absolutely amazing even if you aren't dating someone!
11. And there's always 50 percent off chocolate tomorrow
On sale chocolate is the best chocolate. Treat yourself
