Have you ever felt like you’re the only one who is single? You walk around campus and see people holding hands. You talk to your friends, and they talk about going home to see their boyfriends. You see this cute guy, stalk his Instagram and find out that he has a girlfriend. You might think it sucks that it seems you’re the only single one, but you’re not looking at it the right way. College is way more fun when you’re single. I’m not saying that everyone in a relationship is boring, but I bet you’re having more fun than them.
Being single means you get to flirt. If you see a cute guy, go flirt. You have the right to. Flirting is fun, so do it. College sucks if you’re not having fun, so flirt.
Nothing is holding you back. You can do whatever you please. Nobody is telling you that you can’t do something. You are your own person and you don’t have to report to anyone.
You can focus on yourself. You don’t have to change for anyone. College is a time to find yourself and having a boyfriend can make you put that aside. When you start dating someone, you start learning what their favorites things are and what they like to do. That means you put finding yourself aside, so you can focus on the other person. You don’t need that; you need time to be the best you that you can be.
You have more down time. You don’t have to block off a certain amount of time to hang out with your significant other. You know those “girl’s nights” people have every so often? It’s like that all the time.
Friends are more important. Having friends and making new ones is so much better than being in a relationship. You might start flirting with a guy because he’s cute, but realize that he’d be a great friend. So, you become friends. After all, you were just flirting with him because it’s fun.
Guys are overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I like guys as much as the next girl, but I know that I don’t need anyone to make me happy. Or you could say, “I don’t need no man.” College is a time for me to find myself and be content with who I am. I’m learning how to be the best me that I can be and I guarantee I’m having more fun than those in relationships.
There’s a quote that says, “High school isn’t about finding your husband… it’s about finding your bridesmaids.” So, that brings into question, is college a time to find your husband? I’m here to tell you, high school is time to learn how to figure out which friends are fake; college is a time to find your bridesmaids. Somewhere, sometimes, at the most unexpected moment, you’ll find your husband. So, enjoy college being single. And if you ever start wishing you had a boyfriend, remember you’re having more fun being single.
