Being a Friend-Mom

Being a friend mom is something that just comes naturally. You don't choose this life, it choses you. Here are some of the highlights of being a Friend-Mom

1. You wear jeans and a t-shirts a lot, like probably too much.

2. When you go out, you wear "nice" jeans and a t-shirt.

3. Your answer is always yes to questions that start with "hey does anybody have a..."

4. You've got a "look." It might be an eye roll, or a head tilt folded arm combo type thing, but there is a look.

5. People ask for your advice all the time, and when you don't know what to say, you make something up anyway and just try to be supportive (Side note to my friends: I don't mean that. I do know how to solve all your problems, don't worry.)

6. You really appreciate that weird adult humor that's hidden in kids' tv shows.

7. You hang out with other moms... Your mom, your grandma, your aunt, your other friends' moms. Whatever, they are cool ladies.

8. Your friends openly mock you for your most momish qualities - sorry not sorry, I very actively use my planner. I just like to be organized!

9. Sometimes you don't use your planner and things get a little out of hand.

10. Tina Fey is your idol.

11. You're genuinely worried for your friends' safety and well being. I hope you're all wearing helmets and whatever other protection you need. Also please stay hydrated.

12. You love the grocery store. Shopping lists are fun and you might keep yours in your planner.

13. Most of all, you really love your friends, especially the ones who need you the most as a Friend-Mom <3

** Please note that the only criteria for a Friend-Dad is that you jump off of less things, you are on time more frequently, and your clothes match.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
