Love is an understatement that I have for this child

Why Being An Aunt Is Much Greater Than I Expected
Amy Ingold

Have you ever heard the words of "I love you" been spoken in the worlds sweetest voice. Well you clearly have not had the luxury of a niece or nephew telling you that they love you and your heart completely melting. My entire life all I wanted in the world was to be an aunt. Actually if you look back at the letter I wrote in 5th grade to my future self, you'll see that on my list of goals, it was to be an aunt sometime in my life. And on September 13th, 2015, that dream came true. I saw the most beautiful baby appear into this world, and i completely melted; and in that moment, realized and understood the preciousness of life, and how a tiny human can have such a large impact on the world.

Since that day we have been declared forever besties, and she without a doubt has made the biggest impact on my life, and who i want to be. She makes me take time and thank each person that helps me along the way. There are so many life lessons that we learn at a young age, that hold a great importance to us, but we often forget them along the way. Like holding hands, saying please and thank you, making sure you hug your loved ones goodbye, and most of all saying I Love You. It's all about the nights and days you spend working on their vocabulary, helping them build a tower, or even having a tea party with their favorite stuffed animals. It's these moments that not only last in our mind, but theirs as well. I'll run around the corner and hear her yell, "Mi-Mi, Mi-Mi" She can't quite grasp my full name yet, but its the effort that counts. I push her to try her best, and that accidents or "uh-oh's" happen. All we have to do is just pick up our toys, clean up our mess, and move on.

I never go a day without thinking of that tiny human, and how great of a life she is going to live. But how she also makes me want her future bright, that she is cared for, she will be respected, and most of all that her life is valued. Shes just not another set of footprints on this earth. She can and will achieve greatness, and most of all I can to. Its never to late to change your mind, improve your qlity of life, and just strive to be the best person you can be. And sometimes it takes a tiny little person, calling you Aunt Mimi to do so.

So if you are ever given the chance to be an aunt or a role model to a young child, Enjoy it, take advantage of your time with them, and HAVE FUN. I have never felt so loved and rewarded in my entire life. You may not think you are having that much of an ipact of their lives, but It is shocking how much one perosn can dipict someone's life, espically the life of a child.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
