Since a young age, we have all been wired to dream. In Kindergarten, we are asked what we want to be when we grow up, in middle school we are asked what college we dream of going to, and in high school we are asked what we think we can do for this world. While in college, we start to turn those dreams into reality. We decide a major, take endless classes to enhance our education, and at the end, we receive a diploma in hopes to receive a job in our field of studies. It's a sad thing that occupations are not guaranteed after we graduate even though we went to college. We are told to accept as many internships as possible and if you find one that works, stick to it and try to climb the ladder.
It's especially difficult being a dreamer in this world of cold, hard facts. The chances of obtaining a dream job is so slim to none that people are settling in other fields in hopes to at least obtain a career of any type. We are told that we need to be real, that we must understand that we can't always get everything we want. But I say that you should never let people stop you. You should never let fear break your dreams of being happy. Be as ambitious as your heart desires because it's the energy and the effort you put into this world that will pave you a path to success. Ambition has turned to such a negative connotation that I one, can not understand, and two, simply refuse to support. By definition, ambition is "an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, aspower, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment;" so in what world should this be a bad thing.
We should never find ourselves questioning our worth to decide if we are capable of achieving our dreams. We should work as hard as we possibly can to attain what is seemingly unreachable. If you want something bad enough, you should be willing to devote your blood, sweat, and tears to accomplishing the battle at hand. If you ever meet people who make you doubt your abilities, ignore them. If you ever surround yourself with people who make you question whether you dreams are worth fighting for, drop them. And if you ever find yourself even questioning whether your goals are attainable, push those thoughts aside.
You are capable of accomplishing anything you put your mind to. If you have a goal, be willing to dedicate your time and your energy into making sure you reach it. You wanted it in the first place so it is clearly in your line of vision. If you don't take the leap of faith, you will never know what you are capable of. You will never understand the power of your desires and you will never feel the fulfillment of accomplishing your dreams. Be as ambitious as your heart desires and never question your faith or worth. Never see ambition as a negative because it is a positive; it can drive you to accomplish goals and create a life of self-satisfaction.
