The girl behind the red door: Brooke Davis. To outsiders she's a fictitious character in a television show, but to those who had the time to finish all nine seasons of One Tree Hill, she is a role model. Brooke starts off as the popular girl in high school who requires affection from boys to feel self worth, but as we go on the life adventure of the friend group from Tree Hill, we watch her turn into the mature and confident mother and wife.
Brooke Davis is more than just a character in a TV show, she is an example of who we aspire to be in this world and here's why:
1. She went against the stereotypes of being the "popular girl" and was real with herself as she showed the world who she really was. She didn't hide behind her outward beauty, but instead she embraced it while also loving who she was on the inside. She is ultimately the perfect example of how to be imperfect and still love yourself and live a happy life.
2. She speaks her mind and isn't afraid to stand up for herself. More than this, she stands up for her friends when they can't find the courage to stand up for themselves.
3. Not only did she start her own famous clothing line, she also used it to show the world that you don't need anyone else to reach your dreams. Independence is what Brooke stood for.
4. She stood up against anorexia even though it is what society expected. She never let anything get in the way of what she believed in, even when it could jeopardize her career.
5. Even when she didn't have a man to give her a family, she didn't let that stop her.
6. She always chose friends over boys.
7. When Sam had no place to live, Brooke took her in and gave her a bed and someone to call mom. And when Sam found her birth parents, Brooke let her go even though it killed her because she knew that was what was best for Sam.
8. When she was attacked, she didn't let it knock her down, she used it to make her stronger.
9. She knew how to have fun in high school, and she still knows how to have fun as an adult.
10. But at the end of the day she is willing to risk her life for those she loves.
11. Despite her lack of a caring family growing up with an absent father and demanding mother, she figured out all on her own what a real family should be like so she could create one of her own one day.
12. She's spontaneous and confident.
13. She fought, and sometimes she fell hard, but she never gave up.
She is the girl behind the red door, and we should aspire to be like her: caring, free and most of all confident.
