As a second semester senior, I am inevitably faced with the fact that the “g” word is looming around the corner. Just in case anyone else was denying this day like me, the constant emails, job posts, and of course the 100 days until graduation event that happened this week, remind us that we can’t avoid it anymore.
If you are like me, you’ve probably already gone through the many phases of a second semester senior. Here are just some of the many feelings you’ve probably experienced already.
1. You were excited to take that “easy” art class or dance class, but now you find yourself doing more work for that then any other class.
2. Your friends have already discussed the possibility of being in several different states.
3. But don't worry, you'll all be visiting each other ASAP.
4. You’ve experienced at least one panic attack about the future (probably more though).
5. Decided to apply to jobs in places you don't want to go just because you’re afraid no one else will want you.
6. Your business major friends have had job offers since sophomore year and you now hate them for not freaking out as much as you.
7. Your parents ask you on a daily basis how the job search is going.
8. If you’re single, you keep telling your friends that you only have 98 days and counting to find a guy before you graduate.
or
If you’re in a relationship ,you keep avoiding the conversation of where you’ll be come May.
9. Already toasted to at least one “Last time we ... ” or “To being Seniors.”
10. Realized that you have already had your last first day of class after the fact.
11. Tried to decide whether or not you want to donate to the class gift, but every time, you come to the fact that you are a broke college student or can’t decide what area to donate to and just put it off even longer.
If you have experienced at least one or all of these, don’t worry, you’re certainly not alone and we can all go to Kelly’s this weekend and try to avoid our futures together.
