A Poem To The Coronavirus

Because of you, life will never return back to normal.

A Poem To The Coronavirus

Before you were here, seniors were getting excited and buying Disney merch for their senior trip.

Because of you, seniors had to stay home instead of going on a once in a lifetime trip with their friends and classmates.

Before you were here, seniors were getting their prom dresses and dates all set for prom.

Because of you, seniors had to cancel their limos and hang their unworn prom dresses up in their closet.

Before you were here, families were able to join together and celebrate birthdays and other momentous occasions.

Because of you, all families can do now is speak to each other over facetime.

Before you were here, millions of people were healthy and living a happy life.

Because of you, hundreds of thousands of those happy people died without a proper funeral.

Before you were here, our economy was booming and the best it has ever been in the United States.

Because of you, millions of Americans lost their jobs and made it hard for them to support their families.

Before you were here, teachers were able to educate the minds of our youth in the classrooms and teach them not only academics, but life lessons.

Because of you, teachers were forced to resort to teaching virtually which limited the most valuable resource of physically being in the classroom.

Before you were here, people bought food, water and other supplies in reasonable amounts.

Because of you, people let their irrational side take over and started buying everything possible in bulk leaving little left for everyone else.

Before you were here, friends and families made plans for vacations.

Because of you, those plans had to be cancelled.

Before you were here, doctors, nurses and other first responders were already tired and overworked.

Because of you, those first responders weren't given a choice but to work longer shifts and spend even less time with their family.

Before you were here, political parties were already divided.

Because of you, they've seem to divide even more causing more arguments and debates.

Because of you, people had to say goodbye to their loved ones for an indefinite amount of time.

Because of you, hundreds of thousands of people had to die without their loved ones getting to say goodbye

Because of you, students everywhere missed out on milestones in their life that can never be replaced.

Because of you, millions lost their jobs and had to struggle to make it through.

Because of you, no one can leave their house without the constant fear of catching you.

No more hugging, no more kissing, no more sharing, no more giving, no more vacations, no more plans, no more living a normal life

...and that is all because of you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
