"To see the world, things dangerous to come, to see behind walls, draw closer, and to feel. That is the purpose of life." James Thurber
You scroll as you stroll, your mind occupied by the rapid-fire stimuli of the present world happening all at once and all around us. The bills, the messages, the money, the time. You don't have time to visit that friend you haven't seen in a while, nor to do that new thing they invited you to because it will take time itself to become familiar with and you never have enough time, to begin with. There are so many things calling on you that it's too overwhelming to consider the things that aren't all up in your face every second of the day: the beautiful things.
The look in her eyes when you agree to take her to the park, the stillness of the lake on your morning jog, or the sound of silence when you are absolutely alone, and at peace with yourself. These are the things that are beautiful in this life, that give us purpose, even when we don't give them the slightest audience in our daily lives.
There is an infinity of beauty to be experienced in this lifetime. It will be impossible for you to even live a fraction of it. Most people don't even get that much. But you can. I feel it is my responsibility to share this with you, especially if you have never thought it possible or considered it up until now.
You can experience that beauty. All you have to do is stop searching for it where the world tells you it will be, and open yourself to the place it has been all along. This place is different for everyone. Maybe it is in pristine nature, maybe it is other people, maybe it is within yourself. Whatever beauty is for you, it is waiting here and now for the experiencing. Just remember to keep an open mind, and not to let yourself become too eager or disheartened, because beautiful things don't ask for attention.
