I am a huge comic book fan and I love Marvel and DC comics equally, but I have been driven towards Marvel more with their array of movies. As many people say, DC movies have been lacking over the past years with the flops of "Green Lantern" and the reboots of "Superman" in the early 2000s. DC is starting to gain some ground especially with popularity of "The Dark Knight" trilogy, "Man of Steel" and new TV shows such as "Arrow" and "The Flash." A lot of fans were upset about the fact that the Batman they grew to love would be replaced by a new actor who hasn't had best track record as a superhero. I thought this would be the end of DC movies if no one liked the new Batman. The new installment to the DC cinematic universe is "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and after seeing it last night, I finally believe that DC is on the right track.
"Batman v Superman" was a comic book back in the late '80s, which provided the inspiration and storyline for the new film. I loved the new film. For any of those who are a fan of the comics, this movie is perfect. My expectations of this movie were very low going into it and I was afraid that DC would never be able to catch up. DC really knocked it out of the park with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." The action, the story and the romance were all there and also all of hidden easter eggs for hardcore DC fans were perfectly placed. Ben Affleck was a perfect fit for Bruce Wayne/Batman; he really made this role his own and killed it. Henry Cavill reprised his role as Superman and he is the physical embodiment of Superman. Amy Adams reprised her role as Lois Lane and the chemistry that she and Henry Cavill have in the film is beautiful and tugs at the heartstrings. Jessie Eisenberg took on the role of Lex Luthor and to be honest, when I first heard the news that he would be playing this role; I was a little scared. Jesse Eisenberg was definitely the underdog of this film and really surprised me. He played a perfect Lex Luthor and he really showed off his acting chops. I applaud him. I overall give this movie a nine out 10. Director Zack Synder did a great job and I hope that he directs more DC movies in the future. I am excited for the next big DC film which is "Suicide Squad," which comes to theaters in August. This movie will be from the perspective of the villains such as The Joker and Harley Quinn. This will be the darkest movie that DC has attempted to make and I'm very excited to see what they make of it. I want to formally congratulate DC Comics and welcome to the superhero Cinematic Universe.
