Picking apples in the orchard, playing in the corn pit at the pumpkin patch, or ordering your beloved PSL from Starbucks may have you labeled as basic. Should you care? The answer is no.
Does going skiing during Winter get you labeled as basic? Does going to a party spring break location get you labeled as basic? Does going to the beach during the summer get you labeled as basic? There's one real question that you have to ask yourself.
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
Why does it matter what everyone thinks of you? Why do you have to put on a fake face in the public light to appease others, but in private trash talk those people? Why do you have to do fabulous things to show off to everyone?
In today's society, the upcoming generation is focused on getting the most Insta likes, who has the most twitter followers, or who is taking you to that party. WHO CARES. Nobody cares except for you and only you. You're the one who is flaunting that you got over 300 likes on that terrible quality picture from the other night. You're the one who keeps posting and advertising your twitter to gain followers. You're the one to post constantly writing about going to the party with whoever.
Notice the common denominator? YOU.
You are trying to popularize yourself based on trivial things. Who honestly cares if you get a single like on your pictures? You know damn good and well that a majority of people saw it, so why does it matter if they like it or not. You know that people don't follow you because you are constantly posting about things they don't care about or don't want to see. Honestly, it's borderline annoying because everyone knows at least one (or more) of these types of "friends."
Don't be the friend to keep popularizing yourself on your social media accounts. Don't be that type of friend to post every waking thing you do. Definitely don't be that friend to stereotype others for being basic when we all know that you truly are the basic one.
