As spring training begins, we get to start looking forward to the best season on the planet-baseball season. Now, as a long time Chicago Cubs fan this season is kind of important. For any of you who don't know, we ended our 108 year drought by winning the World Series last season. This brings a ton of excitement for this season.
Schwarber is fully back and is rumored to be the lead-off hitter this season, which is some pretty exciting news as he was out all last season. He is also cleared to play the field, so seeing him in the outfield or behind the plate will be exciting as well.
Next, I'll talk about everyone's favorite duo: Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant. They are major friendship goals on and off the field and if I could choose to be anyone in life it would probably be these two. Kris Bryant sadly got married after the WS win, but Jessica is definitely a lucky girl. Okay, back to baseball. Seeing these two interact should be a good enough reason to be excited for the regular season to start, and seeing how their bats explode to help the Cubs to more victories.
Then of course, we can't forget about the pitchers who make the game fully possible. Pitching through the stressful innings, all of them have hard heads on their shoulders. Jake Arrieta led the cubs to many victories last year and he will be exciting to watch this season.
Currently, I would probably give the whole left side of my body to be at the spring training games over my spring break, but sadly that isn't reality so I have to cheer them on from the couch. I can't wait for the season to start again so I can be back at Wrigley Field, an experience like no other. Whether you have bleacher seats, seats right behind the dugout, or a box, you are sure to have the experience of a lifetime. Especially if they win and all the fans get to sing Go Cubs Go at the end of the game.
Baseball season is definitely something I look forward to every year and I genuinely am excited to cheer on the Cubs from Michigan. (Sadly, I go to a school where a majority of people are Tigers fans, but I suppose that's better than going to a school where the majority of people are White Sox fans) Hopefully, at the end of this season, me and all of my other Illinois friends can be jumping on couches screaming our heads off for the Cubbies, and maybe, just maybe there will be another parade...but we won't jinx anything right now.
So, cheers to spring training, cheers to the regular season, cheers to October baseball, and cheers to my Chicago Cubbies.
