It is that time of year again: back to school (and thank you, television commercials, for not letting us forget it). In high school, it seemed as though the end of summer was fairly mundane. It involved maybe taking a quick trip to the mall or, for some, the uniform store, stopping by Office Depot for a couple notebooks and then meeting your new teachers whom you have known all about for years. College, however, is another story. From moving to prepping for an unfamiliar schedule, here is just what back to school in college is all about:
1. Sulking as you wrap up binge-watching reality television.
A personal favorite is "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
2. Soaking up the last of your opportunities to achieve the perfect tan.
Before you know it, you will be wearing your winter coat everywhere.
3. Packing an obscene amount of things, half of which you most definitely will not need.
Of course, your one must-have is the one thing you forgot.
4. Hearing your family's last bit of advice as you say goodbye.
Thank goodness for FaceTime, though.
5. And parting ways with your furry friends.
This is easily the hardest part.
6. Stocking up on ramen.
I would guess ramen's net profit increases substantially come September.
7. Getting trampled by the other hundred students trying to check off their shopping list items at Bed Bath & Beyond.
It is just insanity.
8. And then handing money out to Uber when, thanks to your countless shopping bags, you know walking is out of the question.
Sorry, Mom and Dad.9. Frantically checking to see if a spot opened up in that class that you absolutely need to take.
Because scheduling is everything.10. Adapting to a sporadic sleep schedule that just passes as sufficient.
Wouldn't it be easier to just recharge ourselves with a battery?
11. And then setting up five alarms for each day to make sure you wake up on time.
The more annoying, the more efficient.
12. But it also means getting to see really cool people you have missed all summer and to learn some awesome things, which makes it all worth it.
After all, that is really what college is about.
