'The Bachelorette:' Why They Never Find True Love

What's love got to do with it anyway?

'The Bachelorette:' Why
They Never Find True Love

If you are anything like I am, you have watched "The Bachelorette" religiously season after season in hopes that the finale ends with a proposal from your favorite bachelor. Every time, I find myself guesstimating how long the relationship will actually last after the camera crew disappears and the thrill of dating twenty-five of America’s most eligible bachelors finally wears off.

Dating twenty-five men at the same time sounds like any woman’s dream, until it actually becomes reality. Personally, juggling twenty-five men all at once would give me a headache and just sounds exhausting.

"What's your name again?"

"What did we do on our last date?"

"Oh, this is our first date?"

It is hard enough getting to know all the ins and outs of one guy, let alone having to magically connect and get to know multiple in the short amount of time ABC gives the bachelorette to find her one true love. You can’t find true love in a couple weeks in real life, and you definitely can’t find true love while dating twenty-five men who claim they like you more then the next guy does in the reality television world. It is like ABC puts twenty-five names in a bowl and says, “here we placed your future husband in this bowl, pick him out!” Love just doesn’t work like that, ladies! Your true love is not in a bowl of names.

So how does love work? Love takes time. Something the show lacks! The Bachelorette is forced to make a connection with these men and given so little time to do so. I don’t think you can put a time limit on choosing your future husband and the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. She may be interested the first couple months, but realize the guy is a loser and that they really have nothing in common. Now what? "The Bachelorette" and the new man split like the couple did the season before. ABC will find a new woman to go through the process and all will be okay in the world.

The girls that were rooting for them at home are left disappointed, but not surprised, and will prepare for the next season of hopeless love and new handsome men to fall in love with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
