Ah, New Year's. A time when we all strive to make something better of ourselves, and we strive to make changes in our lives. For some reason, the start of a new year always gives us extra motivation and extra hope that we're going to make changes. Call it human nature or whatever, but we're always looking for ways to set new goals, and ways to keep ourselves looking forward for what's to come.
Many will set and achieve their goals this year. Their determination to meet the goal they put in front of them. Too frequently, though, our New Year's resolutions fail and we come just short of the bar we set for ourselves.
This year, we should start setting 'baby goals' for ourselves. Rather than setting goals we know we can't reach (like becoming a billionaire by the end of the year.. cuz lets be real), lets set goals we can achieve—then at the end of the year we can look back and see that we did make strides for the better. Even if the resolution seems too simple, there is no such thing as a stupid goal.
Here are four "Baby" New Year's resolution ideas:
1. Save at least $20 a month.
It doesn't seem like a lot of money. When you think about it, you might say, "Why even save it if it's such a small amount?" But that $20 can quickly add up. After 12 months, you'd have $240 saved up. That's enough to buy some makeup, or a purse, or you could put it towards a new computer or gaming system. But you won't even think about the money you're putting away because it's an easy, attainable amount. Telling yourself that you'll save $20 a month is a lot easier than trying to save half your paycheck right before that new Xbox comes out.
2. If your goal is to get healthier, start with baby steps.

If your New Year's resolution is to get healthier or lose weight, you might want to start by taking baby steps. Cut back to eating out every couple days, if you're used to eating at a restaurant every day. Start grabbing healthier options and implement healthy foods into your diet. Eventually, eating healthy will become second nature to you. Or if you want to start getting more exercise, make a goal to start walking to the grocery store instead of driving. Every so often, increase the amount of exercise in your daily routine, and it won't seem like such a daunting task to start working out. You can do it!

This one is a big one for some. Whether you struggle with addiction or not, we all have things we enjoy that aren't necessarily the greatest thing for us. Maybe you want to quit smoking, or drinking, or whatever. No matter what it is, maybe there is something you want to change. Start slowly. Cut down on how many cigarettes you smoke, cut down on how much you drink. Whatever you are trying to cut out, start slowly. Eventually you'll depend on these things less and less.
It seems like we've come to a point in our society where social media has taken over our capability to stay in contact with our friends. I think a good resolution this year would be to cut back on social media and work on being social. Go out and see your friends, call your family, spend time with your parents. Rather than just spending time updating your Facebook status, lets work on holding actual conversations and spending time with each other face to face.

These four resolutions are a great way to decide what goal you want to set for yourself. They're easy to work on and at the end of the year, you'll feel so much better for achieving your goals. Don't forget to try your hardest this year, have fun and make it a year to remember.
