If you’ve ever wanted to break a world record, here’s your chance. On September 4th from 10pm-2am, there will be a giant pillow fight in front of the board behind Aztec Dance Marathon, an amazing event raising money for San Diego’s own Rady Children’s Hospital, The goal: take part in the Worlds Largest Pillow Fight.
So here are the Worlds Largest Pillow fight current stats. The current record is held by the nations other SDSU, South Dakota State University. Some friendly rivalry never hurt anyone, and we’re ready to challenge their record. The official rules state that the pillow fight must last at least 60 seconds, and there must be 4,202 people in attendance. For a school like San Diego State, we should be able to make this possible. For all of our new Aztecs, its a great way to meet people and connect with your new Aztec Family. I mean really, (gently) attacking someone with a pillow seems like a good ice breaker, am I right? There will also be photo booths, henna tattoos, caricatures, and a chance to meet some of the families that Aztec Dance Marathon supports.
Also, the key to every college students heart, there will be free food. Yes, I said it, FREE food. You’re welcome for the heads up, so feel free to blow your meal plan on that 12 dollar Starbucks meal in the morning, we’ve all done it.
It keeps getting better, even non SDSU students are more than welcome to attend. Each SDSU student can bring a guest as long as the guest brings some form of ID as well as their school’s ID. Between USD, SDSU, and UCSD, and the plenty of other amazing schools in San Diego, theres no way this world record wont be broken. Bring your friends from other schools or even from up the coast and show off how great SDSU, and giant pillow fights, really are.
In addition, they are going to be offering early and discounted registration to anyone wanting to participate in Aztec Dance Marathon in the Spring of 2016. Aztec Dance Marathon is an overnight danceathon for Rady Children’s hospital, to stand up for those children who cannot. Last year the event raised over 40,000 dollars for the children’s hospital, an amazing amount for a local charity event. The event had food, dancing, and not to mention the camaraderie of all those who danced through the entire night. It’s an incredible event, although tiring, that anyone who has participated in cant wait to take part in again. To stick with the theme of the overnight marathon, the pillow fight is meant to raise awareness for the event as well as just be a hell of a lot of fun.
This is going to be a great event for SDSU. I mean really, it's a giant pillow fight, some world record breaking, free food, and at least 4,202 chances to make new friends (all while raising awareness for Aztec Dance Marathon and the children at Rady Childrens Hospital). It just doesn’t get any better than this.
