It’s officially finals week and I’m sure everyone is feeling just as much pressure as I am. Here I am, finishing up my first semester of college, and the only thing standing between me and Christmas break are finals.

Anyone who knows me, knows my love and admiration for Audrey Hepburn. She took life as it came at her and gave back as much as she could. She’s elegant, witty, and has a quote that applies to any situation. So, here’s five Audrey Hepburn quotes to get you through finals.

1. “I tried always to do better: saw always a little further. I tried to stretch myself.”

As you finish up (or maybe start) studying, it’s important to remember to push yourself a bit. Keep in mind the grade that you want, and shoot for even higher.

2. “Success is like reaching an important birthday and finding you’re exactly the same.”

You already have what it takes inside of you. That won’t change with the grade you get on a paper or test, so just keep that in mind. Getting an A on your final won’t make you a successful person, but it is a step in the right direction!

3. “Let’s face it, a nice creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people; it does for me.”

Honestly, chocolate makes me feel a whole lot better. Let yourself destress while studying and writing to indulge. (Just make sure your break doesn’t turn into a whole day event.)

4. “Good things aren’t supposed to just fall into your lap. God is very generous, but He expects you to do your part first.”

Here at Messiah, we tend to pray about a lot. Sure, it takes a small load off of my shoulders when I pray about finals, but God won’t write these papers or take my finals for me.

5. “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!”

It’s not impossible to get the grade you want…all you have to do is work hard!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
