What dreams do you have? As you’re sitting there, probably on your phone at your local Starbucks, or waiting for the commercial to end and for your favorite show to come back on, I want you to think, what are the dreams you want to achieve? What are the dreams you are so scared to admit, even to yourself?

I have dreams like those, but anyone who knows me, knows I have a big mouth. Unless I absolutely need to, I don’t keep secrets very well, especially if they’re my own. My dream is to move to California. I’ve dreamed about it for years. I live in a small town, and yeah, it’s OK, but the same people live here who always have, and I’m ready for a change of scenery. I’m ready to be a neighbor to palm trees and beaches, and find my own little paradise.
Now, that all sounds great, right? But, how exactly am I going to get there? Yes, California is expensive. Yes, I’m still in undergrad and need to finish my degree. Yes, my parents are retiring and don’t want to (or need to for that matter) help me achieve that dream of moving.
Think back to that dream I asked you to think of for yourself a minute ago. Honestly, what would you do to achieve it? Be completely truthful with yourself. I bet half of you would say something along the lines of “Well, I’d like to do this, but.” Stop right there. That’s where the excuse comes in.
You only get this one life, one chance to dream and make those dreams happen. So why, for any reason at all, would you let those excuses get in the way of you and that dream that you hold so dearly? The only excuse you have is you. You are the one in charge of your life and your dreams. No one else can make that happen for you, just as no one else can stop you besides yourself.
I’m on social media every day. In fact, it’s part of my job to regularly post on social media about health and wellness products and promote my business. It Works Global makes me happy, and it’s a part-time job that is helping me put money away toward my dream. However, a lot of people make rude comments about my posts. I’ve even had people say I’m too fat to use the products I’m selling (I’m looking at you, Yik Yak users, thanks for that).
The world already has a lot of hate in it. It definitely does not need any more. The next time you see someone post about something they want to happen, or someone tells you about a goal they have, tell them they can do it. Reassure them that it is possible if they want it badly enough. Don’t kill someone’s dreams just because you think it’s dumb or weird. And to my fellow dreamers out there, never stop dreaming.
