Ariana Grande and Her Doughnut-Licking Fiasco

I guess that's like a thing now, right?

It seems as though since Ariana Grande’s top hit “Problem” came out she has only had more and more problems… from disliking her label as Big Sean’s girlfriend to having a bad attitude, to awful remarks such as, “I hope they all f—king die” when talking about her loyal and loving fans.

This Fourth of July, the oh-so-innocent and sweet pop star had herself in the limelight again, but this time it wasn’t for one of her unforgettable performances and mesmerizing voice. This time her sweetness appeared in the form of carbohydrates and insults. On Saturday, Ariana Grande and boyfriend, Ricky Alvarez, went to Wolfee Donuts just outside of Los Angeles. The couple began by sniffing the doughnuts on top of the display case. Ricky then stuck his tongue out, and next thing the security camera sees is Ariana looking around to make sure no one is paying attention, and then she licks the doughnuts multiple times. The couple then laughs obnoxiously and make out while waiting. Next, Ariana rudely demands service from a “doughnut professional,” because god forbid the pretty little pop star has some patience. Just while you think it cannot get any worse, it sure does. While waiting for her doughnuts, the security camera caught Ariana exclaiming to Ricky, “I hate Americans! I hate America.” What kind of American insults America on its birthday? Clearly Ariana forgot how she made it big.

After being publically blasted, Ariana apologized by releasing the following statement: "I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I've always made it clear that I love my country…What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context…" How that can be taken out of context, I’m not sure. There is not much about “I hate America! I hate American’s!” that can me misinterpreted. It’s a pretty clear statement. Her apology continued on to say that, “…The fact that the United States has one of the highest child obesity rates in the world frustrates me…We need to demand more from our food industry." A statement in which I completely agree. The only part that leaves me confused is how adding her saliva as a topping to these doughnuts, which contribute to child obesity, would demand more from our food industries. I think adding a stranger's saliva to a doughnut makes it worse for you, but that’s just my opinion.

Not only did Grande forget how she got big, but apparently she forgot that when you become famous, you give up much of your private life due to all the paparazzi, media, cameras, cell phones, security cameras and whatever else might be out there. It's been rumored that the diva prefers to be photographed from her left side of her face, but I don’t think any angle could have helped her while she French kissed the pastries...

Ariana posted a five-minute apology to YouTube after her first attempt had no luck; however, this apology didn’t really help the diva, either. Her video had no authenticity, a lot of “um’s” with pauses, repetition, and is clearly nothing more than the pop star telling the public what she thinks we want to hear to attempt to preserve her sweet and innocent reputation. You would think that she would know better at 22-years-old, but apparently Ariana forgot her manners too.

Ariana Grande is becoming not-so-sweet and a lot less innocent through her comments, adult music, and her poor actions. Is she spiraling out of control like every other pop star we once thought we loved? Hello Miley 2.0!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
