It's easy to get distracted on your phone, but what do you do when you actually need something to fill time? Here are some good ideas for stuff to do with a device you already have with you.
Social Networking
Whether it's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Snapchat, you'll be able to shave some time out of your day. Social networking apps are great to see what's new with your family, friends, and sometimes even enemies. Every time you turn around, each app makes changes to create bigger competition with the others. Facebook offers photo sharing, status making, and even emotion displaying. Facebook is becoming a thing of the past, not a lot of today's teenagers have it because it's a scene for parents and grandparents. Twitter is a place to share personal thoughts in 140 characters. This is not a place for paragraphs, people. Twitter has options to re-tweet what people say because you either love it or find it interesting. You can also quote people's tweets. I see a lot of people using this to start arguments or voice strong opinions. Instagram is an app for people who love to share their lives through pictures. It offers filters and editing features. Snapchat is also a picture-sharing app, but it offers more advanced facial filters including dogs, deer, and holiday themes. You can send pictures to anyone with Snapchat for one to ten seconds. You can have streaks with your favorite Snapchat friends too (I'm at 475 days with my boyfriend).
Shopping
I like to browse Pinterest and Wanelo. I don't know much about Poshmark and Wish, but they are also shopping apps to pass time. Pinterest is a great app for people looking for crafts, places to buy cute outfits, and to pin your favorite articles or stories. You can store all of your favorite pins on your boards and look at them over and over. Wanelo is basically all for clothes. This is where companies advertise their products and even link their online pages to the app. With one tap, it will take you to the website.
Games
If all else fails, there are plenty of games to get addicted to. I tend to go for games where you can pick up a game right where you left off, like 1010 or Dots. 1010 is a game similar to Tetris, but in 1010 you try to make the rows and columns disappear before the pieces don't fit anymore. Dots is basically like Connect Four for your fingertips. You connect at least two dots and they disappear. Connect a square, and all of that color disappear off the board. Other classic games include Mahjong and Cookie Jam.
The Last Resort
If you have gone through your entire phone, are still bored, and need to pass time remember to download Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and StumbleUpon to read what is popular on The Odyssey.
