While watching Catfish: The Tv Show at my friend’s house, it got me thinking about the warnings that every adult lectured about when it comes to online dating. How dangerous and scary it can be not knowing if that person is real or not. Watching the cases on this show reveals the inner truth about struggles that life throws us and that we can no longer be so trustful to who we profess our feelings too.

Catfish means being deceived over social media platforms through online chatting. The deceiver professes their romantic feelings to his/her victim, but isn't who they say they are. Catfish victims usually end up falling in love with that said person that does not exist. For example, a woman may think she is in love with a male model type and in actuality it is a teenage girl behind that computer screen. It can also go the other way with a man who is trying to find love online with a gorgeous women, but it turns out she is not real and totally a different person. This is why the “Catfish: The TV Show” has been made, it helps these victims find the answers they deserve.

There are ways to find out if you are being Catfished or not.

  • If the person is pushing for the next step in the relationship only after a short time, you might be talking to a catfish.
  • If they don’t know what Skype is or refuses to video chat and keep giving you excuses to avoid seeing each other.
  • If the person you are talking to asks for money for an excuse they made up, you might have been the target the whole time.

Please go with your instincts if you feel like there is something wrong and not right with the person you are talking to. Get away from the relationship as soon as you can.
