You were someone who changed my view on life, you taught me that the same amount of fun can be had at a fancy dinner as a night in watching Netflix. I learned that when comparing anyone to you each and every time you’ll always win because I will never meet anyone like you. Days spent with you and your cat are a year behind me yet I remember it like it was yesterday. I still like the Jacksonville Jaguars and I can’t help but wonder if you remember all those Sunday mornings we went to “our place” to grab breakfast and back to your apartment to watch them lose horribly.
The little things that you did made the most impact, holding the door open for me, letting me hold your arm when we walked because I was the most uncoordinated person to ever walk this earth, you took me out on dates which seem so rare since you left. I met you at a bad time in your life, you were dealing with heartbreak but I don’t know why that made it ok in your mind for you to break mine. I adored you (and still do), it’s been over a year since I met you and there are still little things that remind me of you. I’m sure my friends are beyond tired of listening to me innocently speak your name.
You got me through my biggest fears, you were able to help me face and deal with my biggest insecurities and for that, I will forever be grateful. You’re the reason that I’m afraid of mysterious older guys. My gap year has ended and I'm now a freshman in college, and whenever a guy asks me to "hang out" I have no interest. It really makes me miss dates with you. I’ve found myself thinking about you when listening to Dear John by Taylor Swift. You showed me your entire world with no reservations or restrictions. When we first met I’d googled your name once and found out why you were kicked out of college and I couldn’t imagine that version of you so I never asked about it.
I genuinely hope that you’re happy in San Antonio and meet the girl of your dreams because it’s what you deserve. I don't think you'll ever read this open letter but I was able to finally sit down and breathe.
