To those who feel stuck:
Everyone feels stuck at some point — stuck in their personal goals, in their friend group, stuck in general or in any situation. When you feel stuck, it seems like nothing is going to change. It seems like everything will stay as it is now, forever. Even though you may feel powerless, I promise you're not. You have the ability to change the situation in some capacity, whatever it is. You have the power to create the life you want, to make good decisions and to surround yourself with those who support you and love you for who you are.
Change is hard and scary, but it's necessary. It's so easy to get comfortable where you are. There's some saying about doing something every day that scares you, within reason of course. Doing things that scare you means pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. This means you are able to adapt in any situation. When you feel stuck, change is one of the only things that will help you get out of whatever rut you're in.
A fresh perspective can do wonders. My mom always told me everything was worse at night and no matter how terrible I felt at that moment, I would feel better after a night of sleep. She told me I'd feel better after I woke up when it was light outside. Changing your perspective will help you get out of a negative place. It's like when you're studying in one place for too long. You need to take a break, and after your break, it helps to sit somewhere else. But aside from school, it's important to switch things up, to talk to new people, to try to see from a different perspective.
Change isn't the only thing that helps when you're in a rut. You need to know what's important to you, what is meaningful to you and what will help you achieve your goals. What makes you happy? What can you do to give yourself the boost you need to push yourself? This is different for everyone.
Everyone deserves to be happy, but you're the only one who is responsible for your happiness. And oftentimes, when you're in a rut, it's easy to blame other people. Sometimes people suck. Sometimes people let you down. But you can't let that keep you from doing what makes you happy and from feeling like yourself.
People joke that nothing is permanent, except for death and taxes. But in some capacity, that's true. Nothing lasts forever. Everyone feels stuck now, and then and they get out of it. I promise, you'll get out of it too. You'll feel more like yourself. You'll feel inspired and have a new perspective. It will be OK.
