An Open Letter to the Woman Who Helped To Raise Me

Dear my second mom,

You helped me to become the wonderful person I am today. You were there through the ups and downs. For the big monumental moments throughout my life, and you will continue to be there. No matter what life has thrown at you, you've handled it with grace and ease. You've shown me how to live my life fully, surrounded by all the people I love. You've shown me that beauty is not simply something that's on the outside, but something shown through your actions and thoughts about one another. You've taught me that being fearless isn't easy but it's doable and something worth doing.

You've demonstrated beauty and kindness through your actions. You have amazing qualities within you that showcase everything someone should stand for. Your kindness has shown me and everyone around you that you care. Your courage has shown me that it's a necessary quality to possess in life. You've been there for me every step of the way. Through it all, there you were. You've lent a hand when it wasn't necessary and taught me that it's okay to play in the dirt and wear an elegant dress on the same day.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that you're a complete badass.

You always have been and you always will. No matter what is happening, that will remain true. You're so cool and amazing. This is just some much-needed thanks for everything you've done for me and everyone else. And to also remind you how amazing you actually are.

Throughout it all, you've been there for me. So don't worry about it, I will always be there. No matter what, I got you. Life sucks sometimes but friends and family that feel like home make it so much better. Remember: I love you, you got this and you're absolutely amazing.

Love,

Katie

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
