An Open Letter To The Unfaithful Sports Fan

Root, root, root for the home team!

Nothing brings people together more than sports, especially when your team is doing well. What happens when the home team isn't doing so hot? Do you stay and still cheer for the local team, or do you move on to a team that "is doing better?" If you chose to switch home teams just because the statistics and number of wins are higher, shame on you.

I was born into the world of sports, where I was taught to love the boys in red and the Bengal cats. My father showed me that no matter how bad your team is, you stick with them and cheer them through the rough patch. Because once they start winning, you get to say that you were with them through it all. You got to watch them grow into the team they are today.

Once you switch teams, whether that be to the team rival or the best team in the league, you have betrayed your team, the team you grew up watching, the team that your friends and family cheer for. Every sports team goes through a period where they do really well, they win game after game, and they may even win a national champion title. But you know what follows that? A period of struggle and losses. They could go for weeks without winning a single game. What do you do when your new team goes through this drought of wins? Do you just bounce from team to team, just trying to pick the team that is doing the best that year? How is that fun? You don't know a single player. You can't just randomly decide to go to a game if they aren't from your home town; you are just in it for the wins, so you can "seem cooler" among your friends.

It's just pathetic if you randomly decided to switch home teams in the middle of the season just because the local team doesn't win every single game they play. It's sad that you feel like you have to jump on the bandwagon of fans for the best team in the league just so you feel popular.

A true fan would never leave their team midseason just because they aren't winning enough. A true fan knows that their team will get better. They know that their time to shine will come. They just have to wait their turn. True fans know that bandwagon fans come and go, but the real people stick around through the rough times. I hope you enjoy all your wins for this season, and I enjoy see who your cheer for in the next.

Sincerely,

The loyal sports fan

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
