An Open Letter To The Teachers Who Changed My Life

To The Teachers Who've Changed My Life,

I had no idea how deeply you would impact me. From the first day I walked into your class, I never imagined that I would be where I am today. I had no idea who I was, but through your class and your caring attitude you were able to help me discover my self identity. You have altered my life for the better by showing me love and patience. I can never thank you enough for the things you both have done for me and taught me. You are the reason that I made it through high school.

I would first like to thank you both for listening to me and being there for me all the time. Suffering from severe anxiety and depression was challenging; you both helped me so much through this. Just talking to you both calmed me down and made me feel as though everything was going to be okay. No matter what was going on in my life, I always felt as though I could confide in you. It was comforting to know that someone cared.

Thank you for making me come to school. There were days when I just wanted to lay in bed and deteriorate into nothing; you made me get up. Thank you for pushing me. Coming into your class, I really did not care anymore. I did not care if I passed my senior year. I did not even care if I did not get into college. You changed that. You changed me.

Thank you for dealing with me. Thank you for listening to my problems. Thank you for letting me sit in your room just to talk. Thank you for being funny and brightening my day. Thank you for being my friend when I had none. Thank you for being you. The impact you have had on my life is immeasurable.

You deserve more than just a thank you. One day I hope to repay you for all you have done for me. The pictures of you hanging on my wall remind me to strive to be the best that I can be. I aspire to show others the kindness you have shown me. Please continue to do what you do. You are the reason that I made it through the tough times. You are the reason I am happy again.

Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
