To you:
Take a long, hard look in the mirror at the masterpiece that is staring straight back at you, and embrace that person. This is a letter to yourself because, quite frankly, the most important person in the whole, wide world is YOU. Your chromosomes have combined in such a unique and remarkable way to produce your skin, your eyes, your smile and every other little detail that makes you who you are and there is no one else on this whole entire planet who could replace that.
I want you to know that you need to take the time to love yourself first, before anyone or anything else. You need to spend time learning who you are, who you want to be and what you want to do. Embrace it, own it. There is no time to worry about other people and there is no time to worry about comparing yourself to other people, because life is for living and if you're living just to fit in then that just isn't living at all. There's no point in making yourself feel badly because you aren't as pretty or smart or kind or athletic as someone else. I can guarantee that almost one hundred percent of the time, the comparisons you make between you and them are unrealistic and unfair. You are compassionate, intelligent and beautiful. You are enough, but you are never too much. And you are worth more than putting yourself down because you don't think those things are true. Believe it, they are.
It's important to realize that everyone has characteristics that make them who they are and that not everyone is going to be taking the same exact path in life to get them where they need to end up. What you need to focus on is yourself and your own path and your own goals and dreams. What is right for someone else isn't necessarily going to be right for you. Just because you're figuring life out a way that is different than your classmate sitting next to you or your teammate or your best friend, doesn't mean that you are doing it wrong. It just means that you are YOU and they are them and life is going to take you both where you need to be, in different ways.
Without yourself, you would have nothing. Without yourself, you wouldn't even be around to compare yourself to anyone else anyways. So why waste your time with that? If you spend too much time worrying about what the people around you are doing, you lose valuable time you could spend getting to know yourself and doing what is best for you. At the end of the day, the only person that is always going to be there for you without fail is you. So, you better get comfortable with yourself, and you better love yourself.
Take another look in the mirror. That person looking back at you is the most important person. Make that person happy. You are living for that person. Without them, you are not you.
Love yourself.
Love,
Yourself
