Dear Incoming Scarlet Knight,
First, I would like to say congratulations on getting accepted here. You will be slashing demons and monsters from now on! Your car is your horse and your dorm is your castle. Your friends and classmates are your fellow knights.
The Four Campuses
Rutgers University-New Brunswick is like New York! You got buses, restaurants, movie theater, traffic lights, and crosswalks. The Statue of Liberty in this college is the statue of the scarlet knight in College Avenue. It is a big university, which means that you can easily get lost on your first day as a Rutgers student. There are four campuses to be aware of from safest to dangerous. Livingston is considered as the campus with good vibes. This is where the movie theater is located. Busch is where most of the science, math, and medicine classes take place. The roads are okay. Douglass is where the farm is located. The roads are narrow and have a lot of intersections. College Avenue represents the city life. Be careful when you drive around here. Pedestrians love to cross and do not care who goes first. As long as the law supports freedom, pedestrians believe that they can do whatever they want, especially getting money after a car hits them. How will you know which campus will you wind up at? It depends on the classes, dorms, restaurants, and buses that you select.
Danger Zone
When someone asks you which college you are at, what do you say? Uh, Rutgers University. Wrong! You say, "Rutgers University-New Brunswick!" You need to specify the city. There are two other locations, which are Newark and Camden. All three cities are different from each other. If someone were to tell me the university name only, then I am only going to think that he or she was attending the one at New Brunswick since I attend college there! So always be specific about the city! Not only do you have to be specific about the city but you also have to know about it. New Brunswick is dangerous. That means the college itself is dangerous, too. We get crime alerts from the university's police. Arrests and death are real in this university so be careful and alert. Avoid going to College Avenue by yourself and with others at nighttime.
Myriad of Restaurants
You won't go hungry and bored in this college because it has a lot of diverse restaurants. It also has Starbucks Coffee and Dunkin Donuts. Starbucks Coffee is in Livingston and College Avenue. There is also a Starbucks Coffee bus so make sure you stop by one if you see one. Dunkin Donuts is in Livingston student center, Douglas student center, and downtown College Avenue. Here is a bonus. You can eat at the college's bookstore. Check out your campuses for more information on restaurants and food courts.
Always Make And Find Friends
No matter where you are at Rutgers, it is always a good thing to make new friends and find your old friends. Go eat with them. Watch a movie at Rutgers Cinema with them. Join extracurricular activities at college. Bond with your roommates since you will be living with them. Attend events with your friends and roommates. Always post pictures with them on social media to make the memories and friendship precious.
Where Can I Go To Find Alcohol?
You can find alcohol at these bars: Scarlet Pub, Olde Queen Tavern, Golden Rail Pub, Stuff Yer Face, and Olive Branch. They are all located on Easton Avenue at College Avenue. However, you must be twenty-one or older to get access to alcohol.
Keep An Eye On Not Only The Weather But Your Clothes As Well
If the campus reopens, then you must wear a mask and gloves. If it is cold, then wear a lot of clothing. If it is hot, then wear less clothing. You can go back to your dorm if you chose the wrong clothing. However, if you are a commuter, then there is no turning back from what you are wearing.
What Events Do You Have?
Sports games. Author meetings. Career exploration night. Cultural celebrations. The plays, musicals, and concerts at the state theater. Celebrities coming to Rutgers graduation. Avoid traffic when coming to these events. Hopefully, you know the celebrity at the graduation. However, one thing you should avoid is parties where students drink illegally and party hard.
RU RAH RAH
There goes a football game.
Remember. You Are A Scarlet Knight.
Overall, enjoy your four years. You only have one chance to make the four years worth it. Four years at college go by very quickly. In other words, you won't be a scarlet knight for that long.
From,
A Scarlet Knight That Is Currently at Rutgers University-New Brunswick
