Just the idea of being a college senior is a strange thought to think about. Wasn't it just yesterday that you were moving into the college dorm and terrified for your parents to walk out the door and not be there anymore? Or going to your first tailgate, hoping that what you were wearing was okay and not knowing what to expect. The world was a foreign place freshman year of college. It was one of the first times that you got to be independent and function by what you thought was right.
Maybe you shouldn't have gone out that one night because of the one test the next day. But you learned. You figured out what you could and could not handle. Things that you should probably not repeat if you really valued your sanity. But you were free. Free to make mistakes, make lifelong memories (good or bad), and make the final call. You grew as a person, on your own terms. And at the end of the day, you were responsible for you.
But holy crap, this is the last hoorah before they send you out into the real world. Like, are they sure that you are ready to venture out on your own and make adult decisions already? This is it. You want to make this year count and live in every moment that you possibly can. It's time to stop making excuses and just go because there is no turning back at this point in the game. Yikes.
It's all the experiences that you have had so far that make you a little more sure that you are ready to graduate. Think about it, you probably did way more things than you ever thought you would do. You came out of your shell and did some amazing things with some amazing people. You learned to fight for yourself and what you believed in. And that is what the real world is going to be like. No going to classes and getting do overs. Just learning from the past and incorporating that into the future.
So almost college senior, buckle up. Don't forget that you have come a long way from that high school graduate that didn't really know what the future had in store. You still really don't know what the future holds, but at least you know how to better handle it. At least you think you do, right?
Here we go Class of 2018.
