Dear Reader,
It’s officially the end of January and the beginning of February which means that the New Year is old news. It also means that it is around the time of year when people begin to or have already given up on their New Year’s resolutions. According to Details.com, one in three people have given up on their resolution by the end of January and most of the time people give up on their resolutions due to excuses such as being too busy. I’m writing this letter to give you some encouragement to keep your resolution as well as some ideas to keep motivated.
One of the first things is that resolutions matter to you, I mean why else would you bother to make one if it wasn’t important. Therefore, the resolution you made must be a goal that you truly want to achieve and in order to do so you have to remember why you made it. Maybe the reason you made it was to further your career or further yourself, maybe it was to boost your confidence or reach a state of being that you want to be at, every resolution is entirely personal. The only one who can continue on with your resolution is you, which means you hold the key to your own success or the lock to keep yourself from it.
In order to follow through with your New Year’s resolution it’s important to remain motivated. One way to do this is to constantly visualize your goal and why you want it. In doing this you can picture yourself with your end result motivating you to get there through hard work and dedication. Another way to stay motivated is to take little steps. No one ever said that reaching a goal would be easy and the best way to reach the top of the mountain is to take little steps in order to get there. In doing this you can break your resolution down to its deepest roots and get to your end goal by reaching little goals along the way. These little goals can be huge motivators in showing that you are on your way to your true goal. Staying motivated is a huge responsibility especially when the person you have to motivate is yourself. It’s often easier for us to motivate others because it doesn’t take much action other than encouragement, but to motivate ourselves we have to actually put in effort. The effort you put in is shown in your end result which can be either positive or negative, but the first step is telling yourself that you can put in that effort and that you are willing to do it.
New Year’s resolutions are just a part of life, and while they may be a part of life you’ve never actually accomplished it’s important to step back and look at it. Resolutions can be easily achieved if you work hard and motivate yourself to accomplish them. Not everyone will have an easy time, but since when is life easy? Life is always throwing difficulties into your path, but you are able to get through them it’s the same idea with resolutions except you’re the one who puts a difficulty in your path so have the strength to get through them. You can be your own worst enemy when it comes to difficulties so instead build yourself up and leap over those resolutions to the finish line. Good luck!
Sincerely,
Charlotte Durr
