Dear Roomates/Sisters/Best Friends/Dance Partners/Late Night Gossip-Festers:
I can’t believe how incredibly and undoubtedly lucky I am to be your friend. You lift me up when my limbs are too heavy to carry the weight of my own stress. You inspire me daily not only to be a better friend, a better student, and a better sister, but also a better me. I’ve never met people as wacky as you. You girls are literally the craziest people who I’ve ever met, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am never without a shoulder to cry on, a dance partner, or a human diary. I am never afraid that no one will be there for me when I need something. I am always ready to share a laugh with you, go on reluctant trips to the gym that make us feel like Beyonce when we're done, or to binge-watch "Jane the Virgin." Your constant support means everything to me, and I’m so lucky that we are all together.
Sometimes, things get stressful. We fight or we fall down, but please know that I will always be there to pick you back up. You’ve filled my college experience with so much love and so much fun that I can’t even begin to express my gratitude. I know that we’re going to be friends for a long time out. Soon, we’ll know everything about each other (we’re close to mind-reading as it stands already). I can’t wait to spend the rest of my college years with you by my side. The late night adventures, the sing-a-long sessions that never end, and the constantly having food delivered because we are a bunch of lazy college students, it’s all on my bucket list. Together we will cry, sing, and gossip until our voices go hoarse. I’m ready for all of it.
I’m ready to spend another year with the girls who have built me up and made me strong, threading their love into the stitches in my sleeves and plastering sunshine on the walls of my heart every day. I am so ready to make you my temporary family again. Round two is going to be even better because there’s no more getting to know you. I know you and I can’t believe how fortunate I am to have you in my life. So, as this year closes, I want you to know what an impact you’ve made on my life. The idea of moving in for an extended period of time with a bunch of other girls was honestly terrifying and I am so grateful to know that the stars aligned and we all ended up together. We might not always bring out the best in each other and tensions can be high sometimes, but even when I’m frustrated by a misplaced hairbrush or a snarky comment, I still count myself lucky to be your friend. Thank you for making my freshman year of college something worth remembering. Thank you for helping me to grow as a person. Thank you for being a friend.
Love,
The girl who is so happy that she met you
